Building my studio

I have been very busy building my new studio in the last month. It has taken up far more time than I could ever have imagined, but it will be fantastic to be working in it when its finished. I have been working every day until it get dark to try to finish it and have been so lucky with the weather.

Here are some images
and so it begins - day 2, on my birthday 13th Sept
View from studio window
It takes a lot of wood to build this big, 20x12 feet
Now with the roof structure and floor added 1st Oct
Roof lights cut in and back wall coved in breather membrane

Ready for the cladding at last

At the end of the day on the 5th Oct
I still have the windows and door and roof lights to make and fit, the inside has to be insulated and lined. The electrics and water will also need to be done too. Still the end is not too far away.

Tent London

I am delighted to have been selected, along with 5 other makers, to show my work as part of Bath School of Art & Design, Fashion Textiles & 3D Department. The show runs from 22-25 September at Old Truman Brewery, London. I will be showing a selection of my glazed porcelain work.

The degree show starting to take shape

Today was really difficult, it was hard to decide what to show and how to place it. With the help of Ros (my first year helper) and after much juggling of furniture and pots this is the arrangement that seems to work. I will see how I feel about it tomorrow morning!

Last batch of vessels

The last kiln load of work and all came out of the kiln without problems. With only a few days left till the end of the course things seem to be going well, my biggest pieces have survived their journey through the drying, bisque firing and final glaze firing! The work was photographed in my degree show space.
the colours are working out well

The green vessel is the largest that I managed to produce its about 14 inches dia.
