Photo shoot in the Studio

The light in the studio was beautiful this morning so I decided to set up an area to take some pictures. The large windows allow lots of light in which gives great results with soft light rather than the photography Lighting studio with flash.

Ready to glaze

After lots of testing and many problems I am ready to glaze the first batch of thrown work...... fingers crossed!

Hope this one survives

Paper clay

Ready to fire! these are the full size versions that I wanted lets hope they survive the kiln.

Other things happening in the studio

The strange world of ceramics
Ali's space

Amina's space
Rosie's casting of a head
Jo's coloured thrown things

Things that can happen in the kiln

Good things happening

Things are coming together after all. I set up a makeshift photography studio in my work space so that I could see what was working. This was a big help to start to see where things were going.

deeeeep blue!

Contrasting glazed and unglazed surfaces

I really like the way that the surface texture is revealed below the glaze on these pieces

Water etched surfaces

Wire cut surface is getting more interesting now

I need to make more of these

This would be interesting in multiples stacked

Series of small prototypes

Plaster, clay and colour

this form has possibilities on a larger scale

Not long till the degree show now

i am so glad that I finally tried a triaxial blend, so much information and it's really not as hard as I had expected. found some great colours from a biaxial blend too. Now I have many decisions to make about colours but I have some good results to choose from. Threw 11 little pots and cut them into 44 pieces with slip textured surfaces.
